Sublime Point Walking Track

Sublime Point walking track is one of the iconic treks of the Illawarra escarpment, and a challenging walk through lush coastal rainforest to the plateau above with incredible scenic views. The steep climb is ideal for experienced bushwalkers and a great nature escape only an hour from Sydney, north of Wollongong.

The 665 metre long Sea Cliff Bridge is a highlight along the Grand Pacific Drive – A drive which takes in 140 kilometres worth of coastal scenery from the Royal National Park, Loftus down to Nowra.

The bridge has become an icon to the people of Wollongong and the world, once again welcoming tourists annually to this picturesque coastal road.

Fast Facts

  • Distance and time: Approximately 20 km one-way, 6-7 hours. The walk is broken into three sections: North, Mid, and South, each section is 5 – 8 km.
  • Level: Easy/Moderate. The track is well maintained and suitable for most fitness levels with a mix of sealed paths, grass tracks, beach walking and some gentle hills.
  • Top attractions: Minnamurra River, Cathedral Rocks, Bombo Headland, Boneyard, Kiama Blowhole, Little Blowhole, Werri Lagoon, and Werri Beach.
  • Dogs are allowed on-leash for most of the walk, excluding some sections of beach. There are also a number of off-leash areas along the way. Public toilets, drinking fountains, barbecues and other facilities are available at many points along the walk. Explore the Kiama Coast Walk map.

Visit Shoalhaven

Cycling and Mountain Biking

Cycling is not only good for your health, it’s a popular sport too. Mountain bike through one of many forest tracks where every turn on the trail is a new adventure and discovery.  Choose from a selection of gravel rides that will take you through spectacular forest, rolling rural landscapes, riverside roads and hinterland climbs across Eurobodalla. Mogo Trails is a more than 150km network of mountain bike trails currently under construction in Mogo State Forest and around Deep Creek Dam. When completed it will connect Mogo, Batemans Bay and Batehaven.

Mimosa Rocks National Park embraces 20 km of coastline and covers an area of 5,802 ha. Its diverse system of lagoons, beaches, sea caves, headlands, offshore stacks combined with spotted gums (Corymbia maculata) and prehistoric burrawangs are a feature of the park. The combination of lagoon and ocean beaches often adjacent to one another makes Mimosa Rocks an ideal area in which to explore and enjoy the local coastal environment.

Ben Boyd National Park

Ben Boyd National Park is separated into 2 areas, split by Twofold Bay. Take your pick from the sparkling lakes and surf beaches in the park's Pambula-Haycock area to the rocky cliffs and beachside campgrounds in the Green Cape area. Stretch your legs on one of the park's shorter tracks, like the Pambula River or Pinnacles loop walking tracks. If you're after something more exhilarating, the multi-day Light to Light walk takes you on an unforgettable coastal hiketracing the coast from the historic Boyds Tower to Green Cape Lightstation. For day trippers, there are plenty of spots to go beach and rock fishing or settle down for a barbecue or picnic by the water.
