South Coast Bevfest coming to Merimbula in 2023
South Coast Bevfest is coming to Merimbula in March 2023. The event is updated format of the Merimbula Craft Beer Festival which is back after a year off due to Covid. Bevfest will bring together the area’s best producers including Craft Breweries from the South Coast Ale Trail, local wineries, distilleries and foodies.
Festival organiser Nigel Ayling said, “We wanted to expand the offerings to include other craft beverage providers and make the event more inclusive. We have so many great producers on the South Coast and we really wanted to showcase them.”

First customer to complete the South Coast Ale Trail
The South Coast Ale Trail only launched in December 2021 but one keen beer lover has already competed the trail from top to bottom. Nathan Leicht who lives nearly Wollongong had already visited a number of the breweries around him but he hadn't ventured to far South. When heard about the trail he was keen to make the journey and tick them all off, so he started planning his trip and managed to fit a few of them around a family holiday.

Sapphire Cellars in Merimbula has been around for a while in one shape or form, but in 2020 it was purchased and rebranded by the new owner Andrew Orman. Previously working in the industry as a Liquor Wholesale Representative, Andrew knew the shop and the local area and was ready to make a move in to retail.

For those in the know, Unanderra (just south of Wollongong) has long been the home of Bulli Brewing. Michael Peloquin set up the brewery in 2017 and has been pumping out a range of tasty craft beers for the locals and thirsty travelers passing through ever since.
